Ride To Provide: Thailand
I remember getting off the bike on the last day, and I was saddle sore, there was one little child and says “Come and grab my finger” and just led me into the thing and grabbed me a bottle of water and she just didn’t let go of my finger. And for me it was just gold. It’s just one of those moments that I’ll cherish forever.
It’s absolutely changed my whole world since that first ride. Having something in my life that was bigger than work or the things that you do here and being able to dedicate time to something that fills your soul full of absolute love – it’s incredible and it’s just allowed me to grow! I’ve changed who I am.
It’s not until you are physically in Thailand that you fully understand and appreciate the opportunity afforded to all that attended. This was truly a life changing experience. There, you experience both emotional and physical challenges and get a true appreciation of the Thai people effected by such a tragic natural disaster and how your support really does make a positive impact in their daily lives.
Whatever experience I’ve had in my life, this was pretty much all of those amazing things rolled into one.
Trek for Good: Thailand
The organisation of the trek was outstanding. The experience was amazing and it would be hard to suggest how it could be improved.
Thank you for the opportunity to be part of this wonderful charity.
We laughed. We cried. We sang and we learned a bit about ourselves and each other. The Trek was stunning (some might say challenging in parts but even with a recent shoulder injury it was all doable). The accommodation was such an amazing mix (I loved the water huts, home stay and hammocks) and the food was totally yummy. But the best best part was walking into BTN holding hands and having those beautiful children running towards us (cant promise we weren’t ALL bawling by that stage!!!!)
Young Hands Ride
It took me a while to decide whether to commit to the Young Hands ride, but it was, and still is the best experience I’ve ever had!
It was a pleasure riding alongside each and every team member – these friendships will last a life time.
Riding in to the home and seeing the kids is an experience that I will never forget, each little face makes everything worth it a hundred times over.
It was amazing seeing everyone on the last day and thinking only 5 days prior how different we all were.
The feeling of strength and support in the group is almost overwhelming.
The Young Hands ride is easily one of the most rewarding things I have ever done
Team Bike Ride
“We’ve run a Hands Bike Ride for our clients for the last 4 years and it’s honestly one of the best business decisions we’ve ever made. Not only has it increased engagement between ourselves and our clients, but it has added an element to our business that I find hard to put into words.
It’s given our team and clients a purpose, something that brings us together other than our business, a common goal that we can work towards. We’ll be continuing these rides for many years to come and I would highly recommend it to other business owners.”
“The Fisher & Paykel bike ride with Hands is an experience I will never forget. Not only was it experiencing the Thai culture, visiting the slums, riding into the orphanage at the end of the ride and fully understanding the charity, it is also a learning experience about yourself and your fellow riders. It is about the relationships you develop with each rider both personally and in a business sense. These meaningful relationships / bonds developed on the ride will last for years.
An experience never to be forgotten.”
Future of Leadership
Presenters were very knowledgeable and used excellent training approaches that differentiate this conference from traditional sessions.
Super effort by the team of presenters and also the venue hosts, coffee crew, volunteer helpers – FOL provided a whole lot of learning, hearty belly laughs and a sense of positive contribution…
Each year, FOL is a highlight on my professional calendar. I love the energy, passion and insights that come from the conference, I am very much looking forward to next years!
Great event – very inspiring and it spoke to me. I didn’t feel like a square peg in a round hole for once!! Cheers!
A great day with presentations just the right duration to maintain attention. Good breaks for networking and catching up on work stuff as necessary. Good content to ponder in the days and weeks ahead.
The millennial presentation was very relevant to today;’s businesses. I also had a lot of Ahah moments with all speakers that will help me focus on the right things at the right time. The entire day was very engaging and relevant to myself.
Brilliant day, loved the energy, diversity and leadership of thoughts of all presenters!
A really great event with compelling speakers. Higher quality than a lot of other conferences – felt more like a leadership-focused Ted event than your standard run of the mill conference.
Social Venture Program
Never had it crossed my mind that the SVP would bring about such an experience and a completely refreshing of my mind, body and soul.
I loved the simplicity of the Social Venture Program. It required far less of our intellect or professional skill – in fact, these were largely redundant. Instead, we required far more of our willingness to contribute, to back each other up and to take the time to listen and care.
